Helping the hit TV show find forever families for abandoned animals.

Animal Rescue Live: Supervet Special was an ambitious live TV event which told the heartbreaking stories of abandoned animals in shelters across the UK, and invited viewers to give them loving forever homes. The show was broadcast live over five nights on Channel 4 from the Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter.

We created a bespoke website to power the entire adoption process at the heart of the show. It gave pet profiles and information about  animal adoption, and let viewers apply securely online. A back-end console allowed the production team to rapidly process and review applications, so prospective pet-owners could be quickly identified, matched and brought into the next show.

As this was a brand new format, we worked closely with the production company and channel, reacting quickly as the details of the live show evolved. This included upgrading the flexibility of the adoption system to accommodate different application requirements for re-homing different species. To ensure the impact of the project was over and above the TV show, there was also a process to put applicants who weren’t selected in touch with other pet shelters across the country. 

During the week of broadcast, we had a dedicated support team at the location, monitoring the site during transmission to ensure everything ran smoothly. Thousands of viewer applications were submitted, and dozens of animals found new loving families.
